A critical heap buffer overflow in 7-Zip 26.00 (CVE-2026-48095, CVSS 8.8) lets attackers execute arbitrary code through an NTFS vtable hijack. The attack works regardless of file extension and requires no interaction beyond opening a crafted archive. Update to 7-Zip 26.01 immediately.
